A Powys family have won the top award at a farm show and sale in Welshpool.

The Lewis family's Garyvaughan Tango was crowned Overall Male Champion at North West Midlands & North Wales Limousin Club Spring Show & Sale held at Welshpool Market on Thursday, May 16.

The bull, born in November 2022 and sired by the Barrons Oslo, belonged to local breeders.

Tango sold for 7,500gns and is now owned by Messrs Lloyd from Bettws Y Coed.

The same breeders also took home the Reserve Male Champion title with their bull, Sarkley Tonca, also born in November 2022.

Tonca, sired by Strathearnred Nidge, successfully sold for 6,500gns to Messrs Jackson from Oswestry.

Despite not winning a title, Pabo Timeout, an October 2022 born bull, made the highest sale of the day at 7,800gns.

The bull, presented by WP Hughes & Son, now belongs to Messrs Moyle from Llanbrynmair.

DG & MJ Edward's bull, Dyfri Toreador, fetched 7,000gns at the sale.

Toreador is sired by an August 2022 born son of Dyfri Pele.

The buyer, Messrs Best, hails from Welshpool.

Two bulls shared a selling price of 6,000gns.

The first, Dyfri Tornado, is a May 2022 born offspring from the Edwards family stable and has been purchased by Mr Jones from Bala.

The second bull, Pabo Trebor, presented by Pabo Rocknroll, is now owned by Mr Williams from Pwllheli.

In the female section, Hitchettshill Umbrella emerged as the favourite.

The heifer, born in April 2023 and presented by Messrs Nicholls, sold for 2,600gns to Mr Payton from Wombourne.

The show observed a healthy turnout with an average selling price of £4,870.38 and £2,730.00 for bulls and heifers respectively.

Overall, it was a successful day for the local breeders, with the top honours being taken by the Powys family's bulls.
