PONTYPOOL'S brief brush with fame failed to come to fruition after poor timekeeping kept the cast of Dr Who from gracing the town's temporary film set.
Avid fans young and old eagerly awaited the time lord's arrival in Market Street on Monday evening hoping to catch a glimpse of filming for the third series of the revived show.
Anticipation was high as crew and security closely monitored the set, a patch of wasteland situated behind the Dragon Inn, Chinese takeaway, awaiting star David Tennant and his new sidekick Freema Agyeman, playing medical student Martha.
But the public was left disappointed after the plug was pulled on filming.
One letdown spectator said: "I am disappointed, I would have liked to have seen the filming, but these things happened."
But a little digging by the Free Press revealed the Doctor did travel to Torfaen on Monday and filming took place at another location at Usk Valley Business Park.
