WITH the amateur boxing scene approaching the summer break, Chepstow BC’s head coach is looking at the club members to decide which will be going for titles.
Ethan Jones, whose last fight was described as the “Bout of the Year” recently, has already reached the quarter final of the elite championships which started at the weekend and will continue his campaign to gain a Welsh title.
This Saturday he will be first in the ring at noon and if he wins the bout he will box the following day.
“It’s the youth and elites competitions first,” Woods explained. “The elites are being held at Markham Leisure Centre, Blackwood with the final at Sport Wales, Cardiff.
“I did have two entered but Aiden Hampsey, didn’t meet the weight so I had to withdraw him last Wednesday.
“The schools championship begin next month and I’ll decide on Friday who will enter that event.”
