Shappi Khorsandi is one of the hottest comedy prospects in the country and she will be appearing at Beaufort Theatre & Ballroom, Ebbw Vale on Friday 7th February at 8pm.
The daughter of an exiled writer and comic from Iran, Shappi Khorsandi’s upbringing has been in no way conventional. From mental illness to opium dens, it’s all gone on in the Khorsandi household and she recounts it all in her work the only way she knows how, with wit, warmth and hilarity.
Shappi has been touring the UK continuously to sold-out theatres for the past three years including a 10 night sold-out run at the Soho Theatre in 2011 followed by a 15 night sold out residency in October 2012. The Edinburgh favourite also had the honour of being nominated at the prestigious 2010 British Comedy Awards in the Best Female Comic category up against fellow nominees Jo Brand and Sarah Millican.
Shappi has notched up numerous high profile television appearances including; Live At The Apollo (BBC 1), Channel 4’s Comedy Gala At The O2 (Channel 4 – 2010, 2011 & 2012), Michael McIntyre’s Comedy Roadshow (BBC 1), Graham Norton Show (BBC 1), Friday Night With Jonathan Ross (BBC 1), Have I Got News For You (BBC 1) and her own Comedy Store Special for Comedy Central.
Tickets are £14 / £12 Concessions and available from the box office on 01495 355800 or by visiting www.blaenaugwentvenues.com.
