Usk 7 Machen 25

USK team manager Hywell Williams reckons the club fully deserved their defeat on Saturday against Machen.

And he has now called on his players to get their fingers out and put the effort in at training, or risk being stuck in a relegation dogfight.

Speaking to the Free Press, Williams was clearly disgruntled at the fact that the club was not picking up three points against sides he'd expect them to beat.

"We are in this division because the WRU put us here because we missed a fixture last year. To lose these games is not on.

"We are playing like a Division Five club at the moment, which is an annoying thing. The boys have to start getting some belief.

"Winning is the fruits of our your in training, but at the moment players are expecting others in the side to do the hard work and not putting the onus on themselves," said Williams.

He went on: "Our guys have got to work harder. They need to get together more and work hard to get the results. We have experience in the squad, but they are not training together enough. We have to knuckle down.

"Machen did the basics right very well, but I thought, to be honest, before the match we would have won."
