TODAY we launch the Taste of Monmouthshire certificate, as part of the Free Press Eat Local, Eat Healthy campaign.
Last week we highlighted 30 pubs, restaurants and tearooms which include local produce on their food and drink menus - but we believe many more could follow their lead.
We want more pub owners and managers to get together with neighbouring farmers to buy locally produced food for their menus.
Not only will you be supporting our campaign but you will be boosting the local economy by keeping the money in Monmouthshire.
And as our feature on the Black Bear at Bettws Newydd shows, the owner puts a lot of his success and good reputation down to the fact that he serves up local food.
To encourage more people to take up the challenge, the Free Press has produced a Taste of Monmouthshire certificate which we will give to local businesses who show a commitment to local food. To apply, simply call this number 01291 621882 and our official taster will come out to check your menu and list of local suppliers.
Once you have received yours, you can place it in your window to show customers that you are committed to our campaign.
Alternatively, if you've been out for a meal to a pub or restaurant not mentioned in our list last week and were impressed by the amount of local food on offer, you can nominate the business by calling the same telephone number.
