CALDICOT Comprehensive school is celebrating the success of its young cricket players, who have won two South East Wales trophies this summer.
Players for the year 8 team beat West Mon School, Pontypool, by ten runs to land their cup. The year nine team then went on to beat Bassaleg by nine wickets for their trophy. They now qualify for next years Lord's Tavern-ors competition.
Another rising cricket star in the school is Rebecca Carlson, who plays for the Welsh under 17s Ladies Cricket Team.
A medium-pace bowler, Rebecca has played cricket for four years and also bats. Her personal best is five wickets and 52 runs in a single innings.
