Goytre 1 Seven Sisters 4

GOYTRE chairman and former manager Paul Greenhalgh has called on the Plough Road side to rediscover that rock-like mentality that made their goal line so indestructible last season.

The Welsh League Division Three side have kept only one clean sheet in six games this season, conceding an average of two goals a match and 12 in total. And according to Greenhalgh it's that ever swelling goals against tally that's to blame for their lack of league wins so far this campaign.

"We're conceding far too many goals," said an adamant Greenhalgh.

"Last year our defence was awesome and our goals against record second to none. This year it just not happening. We are up against stronger sides and we haven't maintained enough clean sheets. We have to learn quick and become more streetwise," he insisted. Goytre lie 14th in the table, just fourth of bottom, after picking up only four points from a possible 18.

"These teams in this division are hard to break down and if you give them a 2-0 start you are struggling. In the Gwent County you can get back in it, but in this league teams are happy to just soak up the pressure at the point and set out their stall. Their mentality is 'you create and we'll catch you on the counter' like Seven Sisters did to us.

"It's not as if we're struggling to create chances. The problem is we're not taking them and falling behind ourselves and that's something that has to change fast," he insisted. Midfielder Steve Collett got Goytre's only goal on Saturday.

Goytre kick off at the unbeaten Bryntyrion at 3pm.
