SKENFRITH manager Paul Brown has called on certain players in his squad to start showing more commitment and professionalism.

Brown was left frustrated after some of his squad had failed to turn up on time for Saturday's crunch home encounter against Kingston Rovers.

And Brown, who was forced to play at right back, be-cause of injuries and absences, reckons that that put Skennie in the wrong frame of mind right from the start.

"We didn't help ourselves at all before the start of the game, with some players turning up late.

We just weren't in the right frame of mind after that. We need to start arriving as a team, and then playing as one," insisted Brown.

For all their faults, though, a depleted Skennie side really should have got more out of the game against high flying Kingston.

Brown certainly agreed: "We were missing a number of influential players and had to revert back to a 4-4-2 formation, but still managed to dominate 75 percent of the game.

"What we didn't do well was take our chances. In the first half we had six shots on goal, but didn't score with one of them.

"They had two shots and scored two goals. We are not putting our chances away, which we have to do, and our approach play was perhaps not as patient as it should have been too."

Skenfrith were missing David Elias, Ian Jones and Kevin Akton from the starting line-up meaning, Brown was without any wingbacks which forced the formation change.

"This was not our strongest side, but we were still the better team. If I had my other players we would have won easily.

"We were solid, but some silly mistakes cost us," said Brown.

New signing Fredrick Louberg added to Dave Tynan's first half strike with a sweet left-footed volley.

"He did very well out there and looked good up front for us," commented Brown.

Speaking on Skennie's man of the match, Brendan Oliver, he said: "He had a superb game and never stopped working. I wish half the team would take a leaf out of his book."

Skenfrith have to travel to Shropshire outfit Lentwardian this Saturday, in what Brown is expecting to be another tough battle.

"They've got a bit of quality about them, but we have to bounce back. We need to find that settled side," he said.

The match kicks off at 2.30pm.
