BOY racers who use car parks in Monmouthshire will be prosecuted when new bye-laws come into force.
A spokesman for Monmouthshire County Council said it was currently drawing up an extension to the council's car parks order which would cover the whole county.
The spokesman added: "The changes would mean that if someone was caught speeding or driving recklessly around one of our car parks they would be committing an offence and they could be prosecuted in the magistrates' court or issued with a penalty notice."
Abergavenny councillor Michael Prys Williams said: "The police have already issued 40 warning letters to the so-called boy racers who drive around the bus station car park and the streets of the town every night. These bye-laws should help curb this kind of anti-social behaviour."
