At the Welsh Masters Championships held at Sofia Gardens in Cardiff last weekend, four adult members of Kestrel Gymnastics Club, based in Chepstow, won gold medals in their respective age groups.
In the 40+ Men's section, Jon Hancock, of Shirenewton, won gold by competing on floor, rings, parallel bars and vault. In the Ladies' 20+ section, last year's silver medallist, Carly Hawke from Bulwark, went one better and won gold. Jane Leney, also of Shirenewton, won gold on her first outing in this competition in the 40+ age group, supported by her husband and three children who enthusiastically cheered on their mum.
Shirley Bennett retained her title won last year in the 50+ category by completing sound routines on beam and floor.
Husband and coach Paul Bennett said: "I am delighted for all of them, but next year we must increase the level of difficulty slightly as the competition will be harder next time."
The adult section of the club runs on a Wednesday evening from 8pm-9:30pm. Anyone wanting more information should contact the club on 01291 625800.
