It may surprise you to learn that you can't get everything you want from a supermarket - and to enjoy the complete experience of food shopping, you should never try to do it all in some multi-national.

So it is great to know that there are some hidden gems out there for food lovers - one of which is Beaufort Deli in Chepstow.

This deli, which can be found in Beaufort Square right in the heart of this historic town, is owned and run by Brian and Alana Preece, who took it over in April.

The couple, originally from Derbyshire, are passionate about food and have set about stocking the store with local produce, or produce which they can source locally.

Brian said: "We come from an area where the public support their local farmers markets and the local produce. There is lots of competition up there and we could see that there wasn't anything here promoting Welsh produce. We decided to take the lease on the deli and open it as a Welsh produce shop." And that is what they have done.

Inside you will find deli treats from Luca's in Newport, Italian sausages and salami sourced from Cardiff, Cwrt Neweyyd sausages and veggie burgers, bacon and sausages from Palfreys, of Newport, farmhouse eggs from Usk, Raglan Lane juices, Brookes Dairy ice cream, tarts from Devauden, and a whole range of Welsh cheeses.

The bread is baked on the premises.

Brian and Alana are also able to offer corporate catering and will source products for buffets if required.
