GENEROUS people from Monmouth dug deep into their pockets to support this year's BBC Children in Need Appeal.

Pupils of Trellech Primary School got up early and went to school in their pyjamas and were treated to a breakfast served up by the teachers and raised £172.94 for the appeal.

The same theme was taken up by pupils at Cross Ash Primary School by wearing their night clothes, which raised £147.

Meanwhile many members of staff turned up in their pyjamas at Raglan Primary School raising in excess of £200 by following the theme of 'Anything you want to be'.

Loose change was gathered by pupils of Wyesham Junior School to create a hall of copper, they also took part in a mini Olympics and dressed up as and dressed up as characters from books and films, all of which boosted the appeal by £150.

Screams of pain were heard from students at Monmouth Comprehensive School as many of them underwent leg waxing.

During the lunch break pupils were able to sample many of cakes and biscuits available on special stalls while the more adventurous dressed up as heroes and villains.

Osbaston Primary School pupils came dressed as "What they'd like to be in the future" and raised £250 for Pudsey.

In the light of television's Strictly Come Dancing, pupils of Overmonnow Primary School put on their finery for their Strictly Glamorous competition which raised a magnificent £362.42.

The small Llangattock School stumped up £37 for dressing up as television and film characters for the day.

Staff at Bridges Community Centre boosted the appeal by £120 by raffling a cake made by the trainees working in the centre's caf project and donning costumes that wouldn't be out of place in a stately home.

The Attik, Monmouth's youth facility, raised in excess of £150 with teenage boys having their legs waxed while others had their heads shaved. Staff members Andrew Lewis and Pip Jenkins were gunked, in true 'House Party' style.
