Division One
Tintern Abbey again put in a title winning display in front of their partisan fans. 6-0 the final score as Portskewett A visited the Abbey Stadium. Goals for Tintern seem to be scored from all positions these days.
Gareth Moore scored his normal brace, Ian Fell is usual one, other goals followed unusually from Merv Andrews, Tom Marmont and centre half Steve Jones.
Monmouth Town A travelled to Caldicot Town in a second versus third encounter. Monmouth came away with a 3-1 victory over the youngsters from Caldicot. Gareth Huntley netted Caldicot's only effort.
The result means Caldicot slip down to fourth position on goal difference to Underwood A who coasted to a 7-1 score-line over neighbours Undy Athletic. Simon Yates scored the Undy goal.
Chepstow Town moved off the bottom of the league thanks to a startling 2-2 draw at Rockfield Rovers A. It was the first drawn game of the season in Division One, an unusual statistic for a normally close run league. Daniel Macdonald scored a brace for Rockfield.
Division Two
Chepstow Athletic completed their three-match marathon against Thornwell with another victory, 3-2 the final score. Thornwell played their best football of the three consecutive encounters and were unlucky not to come away with all three points - see report below.
Caldicot Castle A remain close on the heels of Chepstow Athletic following an important 4-2 win at Underwood B. Goals from Keiron Gettings and a Stuart Truckle penalty were not enough for Underwood as they slipped to only their third defeat of the season thus far.
The performance of the weekend belonged to Portskewett B, who were bottom of the league with two points and only eight goals scored to their credit all season. Their visitors, Bulwark, who were only one place above them at the start of play, must have lost their sense in the fog. They were unceremoniously turned over 9-1 on the day. Portskewett veteran Spencer Lovell commented: "We had all our players available for the first time this season, we knew we would win big-time soon but we just didn't expect nine goals in one game. Even our portly 'keeper Julian Edwards scored. Now that's saying something." Dave Watkins bagged five of the goals on the day, Chris Commins (3) and, of course, Julian Edwards effort.
Sudbrook C/C A jumped back above Rogiet-Tippling in the league following a 1-0 victory. Paul Jones scored the Cricket Club goal early in the first half after good work from Neil Richards out wide.
Division Three
Mathern Wanderers look favourites for promotion following a 3-1 victory at second place Monmouth Town B. Elliott Ford scored for the home side. Mathern responded with goals from Richard Beech (2) and Steve Price. Sudbrook C/C B spoiled Devauden Green's chance of going second by winning 3-2. Goals for the Cricket Club were scored by Adrian Briggs, Joe Stevenson and Chris Dacre. The game between Castle B and Rockfield B fell foul of the weather.
