Bringsty 5 Skenfrith 4

For the fourth time this season, Skenfrith United conceded two goals before they got started, and this week it was within eight minutes. After conceding the two goals, Skenny settled down and got back in to it, attacking the Bringsty side with crisp passing and movement on the hard, frosty surface.

After 37 minutes, they got the goal they deserved. MacDonald prodding home from a goalmouth scramble.

Then, in typical fashion, with the game well within their reach, they concede another one a minute from half-time, allowing two men to converge on the keeper Jenkins, leaving him with no chance.

The Skenfrith players started the second half as they were playing in the first, and within a minute of the restart were back to 3-2 through Nash, with a well-placed shot into the bottom corner.

With the game now for the taking, Skenfrith dominated and were well in control, but when defender Jackson's poor and short back pass never made the keeper, a Brigsty player nipped in and scored, undoing all the hard work and effort that the Skenfrith players had put in.

With 20 minutes remaining, to be fair most sides would have given in after all the effort they had put in, and the bad luck and mistakes, but Skenfrith kept going.

They dominating the last 20 minutes and scored another two goals, the first courtesy of the left foot of Tynan, and then a beautiful goal from Ellias from a Byron pass.

With time running out, the boy's pushed hard but just could not get the equaliser.

The performance of the players today was exceptional, the work ethic was great.

This could be the turning point of the season, as the lads do not like losing and expect more of themself, which showed in the performance this week.

We'd like to thank Week's Wholesale Fresh Meats and Mr + Mrs Brian Nash of Newlands B+B for there sponsorship of the game.
