THE Abergavenny Petanque Club played host to Abergavenny and Crickhowell Rotary Clubs on Sunday in what is expected to become an annual event.
Members from APC partnered two players from each of the rotary clubs and gave tuition over three rounds and fifteen games, Abergavenny eventually winning by nine games to six.
The event was organised by the Petanque Club as a gesture to the Abergavenny Rotary Club who generously donated £1,000 towards the club's new piste in Bailey Park, and was thoroughly enjoyed by everyone who took part.
Petanque president Peter Clarke welcomed everyone and members laid on a buffet meal at the end of the game. Thanks for the eventful afternoon were given by Abergavenny Rotary president Clive Howells who said they had enjoyed learning the game. Several Rotarians have already expressed an interest in playing boules again. Peter Clarke presented the winning Rotary team with a trophy engraved for the occasion.
