Chepstow Harriers hosted the second fixture of the season in the Leisure Centre Cross-Country League at the demanding Piercefield Park.
The Harriers women on home soil had to settle for second place in the fixture, four points behind winners Grif-fithstown.
However, after two League races, the Harriers Women lead the table on 15 points, three points ahead of Griffithstown, Islwyn and Caerleon.
The top three finishers in the women's race at Piercefield for the Harriers were Deb Scroggs fourth, Helen Duffield ninth and Beverley Meek-Welsh 13th.
The Harriers men, meanwhile, in the home fixture had to settle for joint third place with Club 69, behind winners Lliswerry and second-placed Islwyn.
After two races, the Chepstow men on 10.5 points are in fourth place in the league, 3.5 points behind leaders Islwyn.
In the men's race at Piercefield Park, the best three scorers for the Harriers were: new member Alasdair O'Do-nnghaile 9th; Mark Harvey 10th, and; Matthew Lawson, 12th.
