Last Saturday Mon-mouth Rugby Club's Team Manager tried all means to find a game for the 1st XV, when Crumlin called off their league away fixture, because their pitch was apparently unfit.
First up, Cheltenham Second XV agreed to play, but then had to call off, then Chepstow did likewise, with the end re-sult being Monmouth 1st team players will have been without an actual competitive game for six weeks, given that they are restricted from playing on the Inter-national weekends.
So, one can only hope that the extra practice that the players are now able to put in on Astroturf each week thanks to a kind benefactor will have stood them in good stead for their next away league game against St Peters of Cardiff this coming Saturday.
