Following a long layoff due to bad weather Abergavenny's 2nd XI were back in action against Cardiff Medics.

The first half was very evenly contested, with neither side being able to break the deadlock with Martin Brown in goal for Abergavenny making some excellent stops, aided by Tom O'Leary in defence.

The home side was able to call on the experience of Nigel Sanchez, in the first half and on several occasions Sanchez was able to feed good passes to his fellow attackers only to see shots missing the target or being cleared.

Abergavenny swapped players for the second half, this didn't have the desired affect, in fact Abergavenny soon found themselves making last ditch tackles in order to avoid the opposition scoring.

Unfortunately in a bad spell of ten minutes Abergavenny conceded three goals in quick succession, mostly due to bad marking, often leaving 'keeper Brown with little or no help. However this was not an Abergavenny team that were going to give up. Excellent tackling at the back by Tim Rees and Vaisey Bramley often allowed midfielders Michael Potts and Duncan Melville to mount attacks, unfortunately Geraint Tuxworth-Jones was tightly marked and found it difficult to find goal.

With about ten minutes to go Abergavenny played their best hockey of the game as a defensive clearance was collected by Melville on the right, some quick play between Potts, Melville and Vaisey Bramley gave Geraint Tuxworth-Jones the chance to run onto the ball and push the ball past the Cardiff goalkeeper. Abergavenny pressed to score a second goal, but just fell short.
