PLAYER manager Andrew Smith was delighted with his side's improved performance.
He commented: "I was pleased with the work rate more than anything, which has been well below par in recent weeks, but everyone ran their socks off today.
"We are all going to make mistakes and if we didn't, we wouldn't be playing at this level, but it is how we respond to those mistakes and how hard we work to get that ball back which matters.
"In all honesty, it could have, and should have, been a lot more but we would have taken that before kick off.
"We kept the ball much better and that showed in the last ten minutes because they were dead on their feet due to the earlier chasing they had to do.
"We must keep that work rate up against every side we play from now to April and just be a little more cynical in front of goal."
Town are without a game next week, while the second team face a tricky game against Tintern, who have won all 12 games to date.
Saturday's Monmouth Town team: Pick, Smith, Dorrington, Davies, J.Harris, Hughes, N.Harris, Wookey (Cleaves), Bowen, Rogers, Palmer.
