EVERY year, the Chepstow Lions Club encourage shoppers to make a small donation towards their Christmas appeal.
And last week members of the club were outside the town's Tesco store, where locals generously dug into their trollies and baskets and gave away some of the newly purchased groceries.
The items are collected and made into Christmas parcels for people social services nominate to the Lions Clubs as being in need of a little extra.
At the store on a business visit recently, David Davies MP/AM, was so impressed with the club's cause, that he decided to make a cash donation.
He said: "It's a wonderful idea. The Chepstow Lions Club do a lot of great work for the local community. It's so easy to get wrapped up in our own lives, especially at this time of year. It is important to remember those less fortunate than ourselves."
