Skenfrith Utd 2 Pegasus Colts 0
SKENFRITH United re-ceived a much-needed morale boost at the weekend with this two-nil win over Pegasus Colts in the Junior Cup.
The win sees United progress to the semi-finals for the second successive season, but the Hereford-shire First Division side made had work of a very average Colts, plying their trade two tiers below Skenfrith in the league.
The game started slowly with Skenny having all the chances up front, but looking slow at the back and making many basic mistakes. Tynan had the two best chances of the opening 45 minutes, but put both over the bar. An improved second half performance followed, inspired by a cameo role from David Vaughn.
Half-time substitute Vaughn proved the catalyst for better creativity, linking up well with the midfield.
But Skenfrith were still left waiting until the last quarter of an hour to see off their cup opponents, when man-of-match Acton's inswinging corner was met by Macdonald on 75 minutes.
The game was finally settled with five minutes left, when another substitute, Byron, rifled in a free kick from the edge of the 18-yard box
Skenfrith United would like to thank Mr Bill Price of Skenfrith and Mr Peter Williams of Trebella Farm for their sponsorship of the cup-tie.
