Abergavenny Thurs 3 New Inn 1
THURSDAYS leapfrogged Gwent County Third Division rivals New Inn with a 3-1 victory on Saturday, securing a rare league double.
The makeshift side put in an excellent performance, with stand-in 'keeper Dave Mason and midfielder Richard McCarthy impressing team boss Bill Mainwaring.
Mainwaring said: "The guys coming in have done very well. We also played Martin Bewick, our new signing from Race."
Bewick opened the scoring in the first half, with Shane Barry doubling Thursdays' lead. A second-half strike from Ryan Routley added to the tally, before the visitors managed a late consolation.
Thursdays' next game is at Dugout, Ebbw Vale, on Saturday, kick-off 1.25pm.
