Ystradgynlais 3 Goytre 1
TEAM manager Steve Morgan was left with a lack of options on Saturday, after several of his players missed the team bus for the away trip to Valleys outfit Ystradgynlais.
Goytre travelled with just a bare starting 11 for the Welsh League Division Three fixture, naming 40-year-old coach Nigel Haines as a lone substitute. And at 2-1 down in the second half with no strikers on the bench to call upon, Goytre suffered with no means of a fightback.
Club chairman Paul Greenhalgh said: "We knew it would be a hard game anyway due to their home record, and we didn't help ourselves by taking such a small squad."
Goytre fell behind on 20 minutes, but young Joe Carless equalised after good work from Darren Haines and Kevin Wallace. However, another goal on the break effectively killed off Goytre before half time.
Walsh went up front where he has experience; but the switch left Goytre exposed at the back for Ystradgynlais to net their third with eight minutes to play.
