MONMOUTH'S Drop It To 40! Campaign goes to the Senedd - The Welsh Assembly's new debating chamber.
Campaigners trying to get the speed limit on the A40 reduced through Monmouth presented a petition of hundreds of names to politicians in Cardiff.
Conny Millard presented the petition to local Assembly Member, Michael German. Mrs Millard is one of the first people to directly lobby an Assembly member in the new building.
Michael German AM said: "The issue of traffic safety on the A40 through Monmouth is increasingly becoming a major issue that the Welsh Assembly Government must address.
"Only by continued pressure from the Drop It To 40! Campaign will we see results. The hundreds of names collected so far illustrated the overwhelming opinion in Monmouth and something must be done soon."
Mrs Millard added: "The response from people in Monmouth and beyond has been fantastic - people really want to see action taken. Handing in the petition at the home of the National Assembly is only one step towards getting the speed limit reduced."
Mrs Millard added that more petitions are arriving by the day: "We will continue to send every indication of support to the Minister for Transport showing him that he must come to Monmouth and see for himself the dangers posed by the road and its motorway speed limits."
