A FAMILY of Bulgarian musicians, named after the Breton village 'Nezehr', will be taking to the stage at Monmouth's Blake Theatre, on Thursday, February 16 from 7.30pm.
The vibrant quartet features Dylan Fowler on guitars, clarinet and drums, Oliver and Rachel Wilson-Dickson on violins with Gillian Stevens on viola. The vibrant foursome draws on Welsh, Celtic, east European and original sources - with each member a well-known performer in their own right. Dylan recently returned from a solo tour in India, having developed an international career working with musicians in Turkey, Canada and Rajasthan.
He has also toured with British folk sensation Julie Murphy. Gill is primarily known as a performer of early music but when teaming up with husband Dylan forms part of a Welsh/Finnish ensemble whose latest excursion was to Prague.
Their recent album Now and Then was named BBC online Album of the week.
Son Oli is a much-in-demand fiddler on the folk circuit, having supported Bryn Terfel and Jules Holland in concert.
Previous honours include working with the Royal Shakespeare Company and recording for the BBC, S4C, HTV Wales and film credits. His wife Rachel recently toured Croatia with the Welsh Baroque Orchestra.
Nezehr was formed as a result of holidays with other musicians in the village of the same name. Last summer, the quartet toured their native country with the London Bulgarian choir, but will appear at the Blake for one night only next week.
Tickets are available from the Blake Box Office, on 01600 719401, priced £8 or £5 for concessions.
