Abergavenny 38 Risca 11
COACH Gary Lawrence is confident his all-conquering Abergavenny side could hold their own in Division Two, having lost just one of their first 15 games this season.
That single defeat came at the hands of this Saturday's opponents Blaina, with Lawrence confident his XV can exact revenge for the surprise result.
Lawrence said: "We'll have a strong side out there and if we ensure we do everything right I can't see us coming unstuck again. Last time we just weren't firing on all cylinders and they were good on the day.
"We've started planning towards Division Two now as we need to be prepared. We've already got the strength in depth and all we probably need are a couple of backs to add more bulk behind."
Abergavenny made light work of Risca on Saturday, putting six tries past the bottom of the league outfit.
Tries from full back Ryan Williams and Andrew Delaney, both converted by James Didcote, put Aber 14-0 up inside ten minutes. Openside flanker Huw Thomas added a third before the break while Risca managed a score against the run of play.
But it was all Abergavenny after the re-start with the leaders' front row controlling much of the game. Blindside flanker James Williams and number eight Matthew George also went over for Lawrence's side, with skipper Leyton Thomas completing the rout.
Lawrence added: "Risca raised their game but mixed it up a bit and they deserve credit for having a plan."
