MONMOUTH'S annual Showcase Spectacular Concert of local talent is just a week away.
For one night only, on St David's Day, Wednesday March 1, the spotlight falls on some of the best talent in a concert which is in aid of the mayor's nominated charities.
The show opens with Haberdashers' Monmouth School for Girls Concert Choir and The Haberdashers' Joint Senior Strings are making their first appearances at the event.
Members of the Townrow Tappers will be performing some of their award winning routines while Monmouth Comprehensive School of Dance will present excerpts from their forthcoming Dance Extravaganza Mary Poppins.
Opening the second half is the popular Monmouth School Brass, conducted by Alison Beak, who have performed at all the previous Showcase Spectacular events.
No strangers to treading the boards, Messers Moylett, Manning and Smith will be taking on the famous Jimmy James Little Box Sketch.
The climax to the evening's entertainment is the return of the Monmouth Comprehensive School's Show-singers, the talented ensemble created especially for last year's Show-case who will be reprising songs from their highly acclaimed adaptation of Guys and Dolls.
The whole evening will be compared, with assured professionalism and good-natured banter by Jim Newcomb, who has fronted all the previous Showcase Concerts.
The showcase concept not only highlights some of the best local talent but raises funds for the Mayor of Monmouth's nominated charities. Councillor Susan Chivers has chosen to support Mon-mouth Lads Club; The Society for the Welfare of Horses and Ponies at St Maughans and the Refur-bishment of St Thomas' Church Hall.
