The Old Smithy Gallery, Usk, has long been at the forefront of contemporary art in Wales, and as it approaches its 35th birthday it has plans for an ambitious and colourful charity event in aid of Marie Curie Cancer Care.
To coincide with Marie Curie's Great Daffodil Appeal 2006, the gallery has commissioned a host of golden daffodils from 10 of the top 20 best selling artists in the UK, along with the lesser known floral variety, the Daffodoodle, from many celebrity artists, including the casts of Emmerdale, Coronation Street and Doctor Who and also including Jem, Griff Rhys Jones, David Beckham and Norman Wisdom.
The artworks will be displayed at the gallery ahead of a charity dinner and auction which is planned for the end of March.
This will prove to be one of the hottest tickets of the year. Businesses are welcome to pre-register their interest in buying a table for the event now.
It is an ideal opportunity for corporate entertaining while benefiting a great cause. The dinner, which in itself will include a few surprises, will play host to the auction and all the proceeds will go to Marie Curie Cancer Care.
For further details on the dinner and auction, and the opportunities for corporate hospitality at the event please contact the Old Smithy Gallery on 01291 672207.
