Jemma and Huw Jones, of Abergavenny, tied the knot in July last year. They spoke to MCL about their big day and the preparations that led to it...
MCL: Did you always know what kind of wedding you wanted? Jemma: Yes. I had a good idea of the kind of wedding I wanted and our wedding last year was everything and more.
MCL: Where did you have the ceremony? J: St Michaels at Llanvihangel Gobion which is my local church as its across the road from my parent's house. I wanted to walk there - I was going to wear pink wellies - but because of the rain I ended up getting a lift.
MCL: Where did you have the reception? J: In a marquee in front of my family home.
MCL: Did you have a theme for the wedding? J: We had a natural theme. I'd always wanted to use a tractor instead of the traditional car, so that's what we did.
MCL: How long did it take to organise? J: We got engaged 18 months before the wedding and it took that long to get it organised. All my family helped. My mum was really creative and my dad was very practical. My flowers were done by a local women, Annie of Llanvaply. Emma Francis did the photographs. We had the harpist Ruth Francis playing and the food was done by Penny Johnson.
MCL: What was the best bit? J: Definitely the organisation and the help from my family.
MCL: And the worst? J: The weather!
MCL: Tell us about your honeymoon? J: We went to Tuscany but I had no idea until we got to the airport. We got married on a Saturday and spent the night at Llangriny Court, then went with the family to the Clytha Arms on the Sunday. We then travelled to London and stayed at the Richmond Hotel before going to the airport.
