MONMOUTH Cricket Club are already looking ahead to the summer with their first nets sessions of 2006 taking place from this weekend, Sunday, March 5, writes Ian Morgan.

And after winning the Flint and Cook Marches League title and knockout cup for three successive years, Monmouth have now se-cured the services of former Somerset all-rounder Graham Burgess in their bid for success in the Crusader Worcester-shire County League.

Monmouth chairman Pat Baker said: "We are delighted to have secured the services of Graham Burgess. He has a wealth of experience as a player and a first-class umpire and I am positive that his tremendous influence will rub off on our players.

"We are all looking forward to this season's indoor nets with great enthusiasm."

Club members last autumn voted overwhelmingly in favour of a historic move to join Division Three (South) of the Worc-estershire County League after dominating the local Flint and Cook Marches league and cup competitions.

Monmouth CC's seniors' indoor nets get underway on Sunday at Monmouth School's Sports Complex from 10.30am-12.30pm, running through until Sunday April 9. New players are welcome to attend and anyone wanting more information should contact chairman Pat Baker on 01600 713748.
