A LOCAL Gwent Central League side are waiting to see if they will be able to have new changing rooms in place in time for the 2006-07 season. Division Two high-flyers Pandy AFC currently have to use changing facilities at Pandy Community Centre before their games then walk the considerable distance to fields next to the Lancaster Arms pub. But the owners of the pub have submitted a planning application to Monmouthshire County Council to build changing rooms primarily for walkers and lodging residents which the club would be able to use. Pandy chairman David Hodgkins explained: "We already go there drinking after games and they're hoping to build the changing rooms which we could use too. We're hoping to get it approved and the pub owners have already said it should be up before the start of next season.
"It would be very convenient as we play right opposite the pub so we could just walk off straight into the changing rooms.
"All the plans have gone in and we're just waiting for planning permission now."
Meanwhile, Pandy - who beat Abergavenny Thursdays 5-1 on Saturday - are through to the final of the Inter-League Cup. They are due to face Newport and District side Pioneer at Cwmbran Stadium, on a date yet to be arranged.
