PREPARATIONS have begun ahead of the new cricket season, with Chepstow CC holding their first nets session of 2006 at Wyedean Leisure Centre last weekend.
And Chepstow have been boosted by the announcement that former Glamorgan CCC academy star Luke Summers has joined their ranks for the coming campaign as a player, while also coaching the Gwent youth squad. As well as representing Wales' premier cricket side at youth level, Summers, a former Cardiff University student, has previously appeared for the British Universities Combined side.
But club secretary Nigel Winter remains keen to attract other new players for the 2006 teams. Places are available at all levels in Chepstow CC's squads and players are invited to join the seniors' nets sessions on Sundays from 5pm.
This year they include four Saturday seniors' teams and one Sunday team; plus youth squads at age groups under-17s, under-15s, two under-13s sides, two under-11s sides and an under-10s side.
