This loss on Saturday, in a game the side targeted as a must win and one that they could of got the season back on track with, was a body blow.
The absence of key players David Goodchild, David Jenkins and influential striker Martin Bewick, ultimately told has another three points slipped away, with the game being played on an awful pitch.
With Abertillery FC able to field three Welsh league players whose contribution told, has they gained the win for Abertillery. The statistics on the day showed that Race had the more opportunities with numerous shots on goal, but failed to hit the net. Mark Drinkwater put in a stirling effort in the midfield, and can always be relied on to give 100%.
Currently the side is lacking in height and is pretty light weight, and defensive fragilities showed again. This Saturday the side is in cup action at home against near neighbours Panteg, the sides haven't met since the Race lost in the semi final of the amateur cup three years ago.
