A former nurse is hoping to track down a colleague from Pontypool who she trained with over 50 years ago.
Jacqueline Webb from Garden Village, Porth went to collage with Shirley Powell when the pair were both student nurses at Crossways Hospital, Cowbridge in 1955.
They moved to The Prince of Wales Orthopedic Hospital in Rhydlafar, Cardiff to continue their training but lost touch in 1956 when Jacqueline left to get married.
But now she wants to renew her friendship with Shirley, who she believes may still live in the Torfaen area, and is appealing to anyone who might know of Shirley's whereabouts to contact the Free Press.
Lewis was Shirley's maiden name so may well have changed. The pair were also friendly with another girl who had the surname Thompson. "I hope that someone can help as I would dearly love to contact her, said Jacqueline.
"We used to sleep in the same room together. We started college on the same day and were great friends.
"I often wonder what happened to her, after I left to get married. I trained as a teacher afterwards and went on to teach at my local school.
"I've thought about her a lot over the years but we didn't keep in touch. All I know is that she was from Pontypool. I don't even know her old address. I was going through my correspondence the other day and I thought I'd write the Free Press a letter."
Anyone who may be able to put Jacqueline in touch with Shirley is asked to contact the Free Press on 01495 751751 or write to us at Pontypool Free Press, Portland Buildings, Commercial Street Pontypool, NP4 6JS.
