TORFAEN residents are being warned that they could be targeted by scam letters, claiming to be from a clairvoyant in Switzerland.
Torfaen council's Trading Standards office have received a number of complaints from worried residents.
The letter mysteriously warns the reader that they have a 'silent threat' hanging over them. They also ask for £17 for an analysis of 'Occult and Vibratory Revelations'. It is also claimed that you could receive a cash prize of £7000.
Steve Whitehouse, Torfaen council's Head of Trading Standards said: "It's important that we get the message across that these letters prey on people's fears and are empty threats. The best thing to do if you get a letter like this is to throw it in the bin after detaching your personal details, or shred it. If you do respond there is every chance your name and address could be passed on to other such scam schemes."
If anyone is worried about these letters call Trading Standards on 01633 648477
