Race First XI 2 Cefn Fforest 1

Race totally dominated this fixture as the stats showed Race with 90 percent possession, as they played keep ball, the only thing they couldn't show for their style and endeavour was a hatful of goals.

Race did take the lead within the opening ten minutes, following a delightful cross from the right, the returning David Jenkins knocked the ball down to man of the moment Daynar Thorpe who from fully 25 yards scored another scorcher.

There was some good interlinking of give and go football between Drinkwater, Berry and Thorpe.

It remained one-nil to the Race until five minutes to go when Cefn Fforest scored an unlikely equaliser, thinking they had secured a point, Cefn Fforest switched off, when in the 90th minute up popped Shaun Berry to seal all three points.

Race did lose influential midfielder and Captain Mike Murphy to a groin strain. Yet it was another great 90 minute performance from the side. The side must now continue the good form from the last two games.

Tranch Second XI 6 v 1 Race Second XI

Don't let this score put you off what was a good performance by the Second XI, who if they put away their chances in the net, could of been four up in the opening 20 minutes.

The side found gaping holes on the Tranch flanks, putting in chances to their strikers, who were unable to finish, which was the difference between the two sides. Two bizarre decision ultimately put pay to the Races' chances. The Race scorer was Jason Howells This Saturday sees the club mark their Centenary Year, with Saturday's fixtures the nearest to the club's first encounter on December 5, 1905. All involved with the present day club must pay their respect to the hard work and loyalty shown by past players and committee members over the ten decades, ultimately if it wasn't for their endeavours their would not be a Race club still in existence.
