THE festive season rolled into town on Saturday as Pontypool's Christmas Cavalcade swung into action.
Around 2,000 people revelled in the street entertainment which culminated in the arrival of the procession at the Link and TV weatherman Derek Brockway switched-on the Christmas lights.
Mr Brockway mingled with the crowd and signed autographs, but despite being asked was unable to help those looking for an inside tip on a bet for a white Christmas. He said it was simply too early to say yet.
Throughout the day children visited Santa in his Grotto at the indoor market.
Ruth Tucker, from Pontypool Community Council said: "It went really well and the town was absolutely packed."
