THIS weekend sees Chepstow RFC anticipating a big day for the club, with all three sides playing at home and two sponsors' functions organised to thank the club's supporters.
Chepstow's game last weekend away at Nantyglo was called off by a local referee at around 11am. Club representative Brian Wilson added he was pleased with the official decision and the notice given.
""They had inspected the pitch twice and consulted with a local referee before calling it off, which is what the league encourages teams to do. "It will now probably be rearranged for April, and we already have four games outstanding to reschedule."
Meanwhile, the second XV defeated St Brendan's 45-12 and next take on Bristol outfit Dings at Wyedean Leisure Centre. The firsts will return to action at home to Tredegar Ironsides - both games kick-off at 2.30pm. The youth squad will be taking on Abertillery at Chepstow Leisure Centre, also from 2.30pm.
Wilson also reported that on Saturday afternoon, the Senior XV's 50-50 club were hosting a sponsors' buffet at the clubhouse, while the youth team entertain their supporters next door in the bar.
