MANAGER Jason Pritch-ard was left bitterly disappointed when his side's away trip to Gwynfi United on Saturday was called off at the last minute.

Caldicot Town are still chasing promotion from the Welsh League Second Division and were favourites for another three points at bottom-of-the-table Gwynfi. But Pritchard and his men, all set to board the bus and make the trip, received the news that the pitch was frozen at 11am and now face having to rearrange the game for a midweek date.

Pritchard said: "It's always disappointing, because you get yourself all geared up to play and we definitely won't look forward to going somewhere like that in midweek. I'd much rather have the points in the bag than the game in hand.

"We got ourselves all ready to go, the bus was waiting to leave at 11.15am and we didn't get the call until 11am. We weren't on the road quite yet but I was still a bit disappointed to find out so late."

Weather permitting, Caldicot now travel to Garden Village on Saturday, with both sides looking for a win in a six-pointer which could prove crucial in the race for promotion.

Pritchard commented: "It's a very big game for us this weekend - probably the biggest so far this season. We really need the three points to put ourselves back in the pack and we only scraped a 1-0 win last time we played them."

And he added: "I haven't been down to Garden Village before, but apparently their facilities are the best in the league - hopefully good enough to play some football."
