ONE minute this dog was enjoying a quiet stroll when, thanks to a stroke of St David's Day magic, he was joined by a giant red dragon. The Dragon appeared overnight on the bank in Pontypool Park and its eight metre by 12 metre frame cuts a formidable figure of Welsh pride. In a new twist to St David's Day celebrations, the symbol overlooks the rugby pitch and will greet spectators and walkers alike. The Dragon came to the park thanks to Torfaen council, who hope that most people walking along the main paths in the park will be able to see it.
Councillor John Cunningham, executive member for operational services, said: "We thought that this was a great idea to celebrate St David's Day. It's slightly different and a new venture for us but, hopefully, it will bring a smile to people's faces."
