Students attending classes at Overmonnow family learning centre in Monmouth are setting their sights high after achieving a range of new qualifications.
The Maths and English courses are proving very popular with young people, leading to nationally recognised qualifications, which are opening the door to a great future. Josh Hopkins, who suffers from dyslexia, left school with no qualifications. After completing courses at Overmonnow and gaining level 2 qualifications in Maths and English, Josh has now been accepted at Middlesex University to study for a BA in music.
Anwen Shaw-Penman, who is also dyslexic, needed a maths qualification, to secure her place at Canterbury University studying Performing Arts.
Thomas Kear, achieved a level 2 qualification in Maths and has now moved on to Hartbury College. Kim Williams, a young mum with three children, who had left school aged 14, passed her maths examination last year and is currently taking English. Beulah Cheesman, found that the courses gave her the confidence she needed to go on to start up her own business.
