The Good Measure pub in Caldicot is helping the Severn Area Rescue Association (SARA) save lives by nominating the charity to receive a donation of £4,500.

The money was raised during the trial of TabBOXX, a new pub lottery product, in the South Wales area. Gamestec, which ran the trial, invited pubs involved in the trial to nominate charities to receive the money raised.

SARA will use the money raised to help run essential inshore and land search and rescue services in the area surrounding the Severn Estuary.

Mervyn Fleming, Chairman of the SARA Beachley Lifeboat & Rescue Station, said: "We are really pleased to receive this donation from TabBOXX and grateful to the Good Measure pub for nominating us. The rescue service we offer is run by volunteers so it is vital we receive funding to continue what we do.

"We are constantly looking to invest in up to date equipment for our rescue stations at Beachley, Sharpness, Tewkesbury and Wyre Forest, particularly for emergency support to communities in low-lying areas liable to flooding."

Maddy Jenkin, Licensee of the Good Measure, said: "SARA is a really popular charity with our customers, the collection box always fills up quickly and people in the area really appreciate what they do, so they seemed the ideal charity to nominate."
