A Christmas crackdown on crime in Caldicot led to eight arrests after officers targeted the town's pubs as part of an ongoing operation.
The operation, which started in November targeted a variety of crimes including shoplifting, burglaries, drug offences in addition to licensing issues in pubs and with local taxi firms.
Throughout the evenings, officers targeted the pubs in the town to make sure all revellers behaved themselves and drank responsibly. Beermats, leaflets and posters were also distributed to all pubs to warn members of the public about the dangers of excessive drinking.
Officers targeted anti-social behaviour such as fighting, swearing or criminal damage.
Throughout the operation, eight people were arrested in total for a variety of offences including public order, theft and drug offences. In addition to this 21 people were stopped and searched.
Neighbourhood Sergeant Roland Giles said: "We are pleased with the results of this operation, especially as the months leading up to the Christmas period are always a particularly busy time for us."
