TREVETHIN mum of four Sarah Hughes, 33, is beaming with pride, as two of her daughters will be carnival queens this summer.
Jodie, 16, who has just finished her GSCEs at Abersychan School, will be this year’s Pontypool carnival queen on Saturday, July 9.
Her sister Melissa, 13, will take on the role for the Trevethin and Penygarn carnival on July 16. Mrs Hughes said: “I’m chuffed to bits.”
Jodie, who will start studying law at Cross Keys College in September, has been involved in the Pontypool carnival before, when she held the role of court attendant. Her younger siblings PJ, seven, and Skye, five, have also been involved in the carnival.
Last year, PJ was pageboy, while Skye was the flower girl.
Mrs Hughes said: “We are always involved in the carnival as a family in one way or another. The kids love it and so do I. They are both going to look lovely, I am going to be the boring- looking one stood near them.”
