FREE cookery lessons that are on offer in Garndiffaith have attracted a wealth of interest from the community.
As part of its wider project, Growing the Veg Box, is set to launch its first set of cooking classes this month in its newly installed kitchen on Stanley Road.
The project is designed to get back to basics and start cooking food from scratch.
Local cookery instructor, Nicola Davies, who will be delivering the training, said: "Giving students the confidence to create recipes and make tasty, nourishing food for their families is really important."
The current six week course is already full, and the scheme coordinators hope that if the interest continues then they can launch more courses soon.
Growing the Veg Box already runs an established non-profit veg box delivery scheme throughout Torfaen providing access to low-cost healthy food on a weekly basis.
It also works with community groups and schools to educate on the benefits of growing your own produce.
"This is an exciting opportunity to work with local communities to encourage health, wellbeing and education," said Ken Clark, chairman of the Garnsychan Partnership.
"We want to share with our community life skills and build the confidence we need to make healthy food choices. We have the potential to make a real difference with this project."
