THE pupils at Magor CIW Primary School have been awarded their third Green Flag as part of the Eco Schools award scheme.
The Eco Council have worked hard to lead their peers through the process, who are only the third school in Monmouthshire to have reached this status.
They held poster competitions to raise awareness of saving water, lead their own Fair Trade assembly and developed ideas for improving recycling both at home and at school.
The school has greatly reduced their carbon footprint as a result of the scheme and even the staff have been involved. To raise awareness of health issues, they have organised staff fitness classes and to reduce emissions, the Eco Council have organised staff car sharing.
The Eco Council are now looking forward to working towards their Platinum Green Flag in 2014.
