“Wow! What a weekend” is how Chepstow Boxing Club head coach Steve Woods summed-up an event in Hull at the weekend.
The club’s boxers returned from East Yorkshire with one gold and two silver medals to their names.
“All our boxers progressed to finals and one gold and two silver medals is a great achievement for our club,” said a proud Woods.
“They boxed their way through 11 bouts, winning five. The Hull Box Cup is a high-level tournament with boxers from all over Britain.
“Terry Mullane beat the England North East champion in the final.
“It was a toe-to-toe war from the first bell to the last and Terry jumped in the air in celebration when the unanimous decision was announced.
“Our two silver medals were won by Peter Mullane and Wilander Ordinado.
“Riley Anstice lost on points to a lad from Ireland who had reached the Irish final, and Ethan Jones beat a boxer from Newport who has won numerous Welsh titles and a GB gold in the past.
“Ethan won with a split decision.
“Peter, Terry and Wilander won with unanimous verdicts to get to the final but Taylor Brooks lost on a 3-2 split.”
There’s just one more box cup left to go this season, the Riviera Box Cup in Paignton, which will be a two-day event.
Chepstow will be represented in Devon by Anstice and Jones, who bring the club’s season to a close.
