Gorseinon (243-7) beat Chepstow (107-5) by 146 runs
AFTER rain delays forced a revised target of 254 from 23.2 overs upon Chepstow, the visitors had only Ollie Rayner (40) and Harry Hughes (29) register double-figure scores.
Having won the toss and decided to field first, relegation-threatened Chepstow were unable to restrict their hosts to an achievable target, with the first eight batters making double-figure contributions.
Ollie Rayner took 3-54 with one wicket apiece for Luke Watson, Luca Goddard and skipper Jason Dobbie.
South Wales Premier League Div Two East
Chepstow II (249) beat Penarth II (135) by 114 runs
A FINE knock of 73 by Ben Tindall helped Chepstow set a tough target for the visitors.
Chris Archer (25) and Malith Madurasinghe (23) gave the home side a reasonable start, and despite losing Tuhin Gavand cheaply, skipper Cam Rees (33), Tindall and Jon Huws (19) kept the scoreboard ticking.
Despite two further cheap dismissals, Filip Chitnis (15) and Scott Williams (11) saw them set a target which proved to be far beyond the visitors’ capabilities.
Chitnis was Chepstow’s main wicket-taker with 3-28 and three maidens with Rizan Mansoor (2-22), Madurasinghe (2-33) and Williams (2-22) keeping the Penarth run chase in check.
The other wicket to fall was taken by Bruno Chitnis (1-23).
