A Torfaen rugby league team is investing in its future.
The Torfaen Tigers Wheelchair team has seen player numbers grow over the last 12 months and is now celebrating the qualification of three new coaches.
This development not only strengthens the team but also highlights the club's commitment to inclusivity and community engagement.
The club has invested in five new junior wheelchairs, making the sport more accessible to a younger audience.
Rob Davies, chairman of Torfaen Tigers, said: "Wheelchair Rugby League isn't just about the competition; it's about bringing people together.
"Whether you're a seasoned athlete or someone who's never played a sport before, there's a place for you in our team.
"The addition of our new coaches and wheelchairs to our wheelchair team means we can provide even more tailored support to our players, helping them grow not just as athletes but as individuals."
The sport's blend of physicality and strategy makes it challenging and accessible.
Tackling is done by removing a tag from an opponent's shoulder, requiring precision and teamwork.
The inclusive nature of the sport is evident in its rules and in the diversity of its players, who range from children to adults, from beginners to professionals.
Alex Powell, one of the new coaches, said: "Wheelchair Rugby League gives everyone a chance to shine.
"It’s incredible to see the determination and passion in each person, regardless of their physical abilities.
"The game has helped me build confidence, resilience, and a sense of belonging."
The addition of the three new coaches highlights the club's dedication to enhancing player experience and expanding the reach of wheelchair rugby league in Wales.
Mila, who is just eight years old, took advantage of the new chairs available and joined the team this year. She played her first game in the Wales Rugby League (WRL) Wheelchair Invitational League against The Argonauts and Cardiff Blue Dragons at Bexleyheath earlier this month.
